  Legal Rights  of LGBTQand its evolution In the ancient India there were many writings about homosexuality like in the Rigveda which is one of the four canonical sacred texts of Hinduism. It contains a phrase  “Vikrit Evam Prakrit”  meaning what is unnatural is also natural indirectly explaining homosexuality. In medieval India, the Hindus strongly disapproved of homosexuality but many sultans practiced homosexuality even after it’s prohibition in the then Sharia Law (Islamic Religious law). Later, the British Empire also criminalized sexual activities because they too opined that homosexuality was against the order of nature thus included homosexual relationships, under section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.
